We are a young ensemble based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, that started in 2015. We met each other through our studies at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. The name ´Marbel´ comes from an inspiration of the mixed nationalities of the members from different continents to different styles of music. We present a broad range of repertoire from the earliest to the most recent music in our world.

The Marbel Ensemble has performed in different venues such as, Theater de Stoep, Kasteel van Rhoon, Bimhuis, De Doelen, Pelgrimsvaderskerk, the Papageno Huis, the Schönbergzaal, and Codarts. As parallel to these big halls we also care and feel that it is very important to connect with our audience. For this reason, we also play in retirement homes, hospitals, at weddings, in hotels or wherever we can brighten somebody´s day.

As our name implies, our formation is flexible to be changed into settings of mixed instruments, and not just the traditional. We usually work as a quintet, featuring clarinet or bass clarinet and string quartet. At the same time, all of us have been actively performing in settings containing fewer instruments, such as a duo of clarinet and viola and a trio of violin, cello and piano.

As of recently, we have started to collaborate with our resident pianist.
